Fighters who were unknown mandatories who became famous

In light of the discussion in regards to Dawson choosing to fight Johnson over his mandatory, who are some examples of fighters who really were unknowns, but made it big after winning their mandatories?

Paul Williams is a good example of someone who really wasn't known but became Margarito's mandatory and after winning, really made a name for himself.

This thread is also to point out WHY mandatories are good for the sport. Sure, there are many pointless and complete bull**** mandatories made out there, but the whole reason for them is to give guys who deserve a shot a crack at the title, often times those guys don't have good promoters/management/etc.

Timothy Bradley sticks out. I knew nothing about him before he put that ass whipping on Witter. Joe Calzaghe is another one before Eubank he really wasn't anything and went on to do big things.

Too many to count. If you think about it, most title holders in the modern era had pretty low profiles before winning one, although there are obviously some hyped-up exceptions.
