I watch Chuck Liddel when he was good, and he stayed on his feet alot of was still successful then...if Mike could keep the fight on his feet like Chuck did then no one can beat him

There's different types of stances though. Those guys are not just walking around and avoiding being taken down through lateral ovement alone. There's more to it than meets the eye. The stances are different.

Not true at all Lesnar-Mir, Fedor-Randleman as examples.

But how do people REALLY know that a PURE boxer would get beat in MMA...Boxers have superior punches and power so I beleive PBF in that a boxer wouldnt get taken down on the ground, MMA fighter would get KTFO

Stronger fighters win barroom brawls and street fights, as most of the time it's just two people winging punches at each other and the strongest guy wins. But it's naive to think that happens at a higher level. It maybe plays a part, but there's so much more to it. Tank Abbott was a bull and he has a fairly modest record. Even Lesnar didn't just walk through and beat everyone, although he came close.

From what I know of UFC is that heavyweights are more likely to stand up and trade rather then grapple.. Mike tyson wearing those small gloves easily kos basically any opponent. Except for someone like fedor emelianko who would most likely take it to the ground but if tyson had good training on the ground who knows what could of happened.

This is all assuming tyson had the boxing training prior of course

theres been a lot of naive opinions voiced in this thread already.

                1) The stronger fighter always wins ? * thats bull**** * for example off the top of my head Lesnar vs Mir

                2) Machida learned only karate * thats bull**** too * he studied BJJ and sumo for starters and thats at the very least.

3)Tyson wouldnt be taken down * where is that from ?! MMA fighters train in being able to take down big strong guys ( like tyson ) point being he'd get taken down. FACT.

The trouble is most of them would be trying to take it to the ground right from the start. I'd definitely say Tyson would have went through most of them. But there would still have been a few too well rounded. Well the people in it now, anyway.

Would be interesting to see how he'd have done in K1 against the good kickboxers. That would have been fun to watch.

Tyson wouldn't be able to stop the wrestler's natural ability to shoot in. Those things are very quick and low. It's a biological responce. A natural reaction to wrestlers.

Machida-do Karate was not only a newly developed style of Shotokan Karate, it has opened itself to be an adaptive style for MMA.

Liddell also was big in his local amateur wrestling circles. So he knows how to stuff takedowns.

Any heavyweight who stands with him gets knocked spark out

Tyson could have been beaten on the ground, wrestling and subs etc but no heavy could have survived standing with him
