So, I stumbled upon this guy while scouring boxrec and would like to know if anyone’s seen him and what scouting report is on him. Abell’s got a solid 24-4 (23 kos) record and has fought already four times this year albeit against the usual cast of journeymen/ tomato cans. Anyways, does this guy have any potential or will he be the quintessential “club fighter” the rest of his career?..

Well he supposedly trains at the gym I go to but I've never seen him there. Doesn't mean he doesn't go there, it probably means I don't go enough!
I watched a few of his fights on youtube and he looks like he has good power and he is southpaw. One of his losses was on there and he got knocked out by this little guy that he was handling pretty easily. I think a couple of his losses were DQ's also but I don't know the story behind them... -
He started boxing after he suffered a serious injury playing college football. He has exceeded expectations, because he was supposed to be finished as an athlete after the injury - he's quite an amazing story actually.
He was robbed in Sweden against Cole, and his first stoppage loss was early. The DQ from hitting his opponent when he was down was unfair, since it was just a reflex action - David Haye has done the the same more blatently many times and gotten away with it.
Abell has had a lot of bad luck. I wish him well.Comment

Interestingly enough, per boxrec, Abell is scheduled to face Al Cole in a rematch in the exact place where they fought the first time- Karlstad, Sweden. Also, another thing worth pointing out is that when boxing analysts discuss American prospects, Abell’s name is never brought up, despite his high KO percentage 24 wins 23KO’s. Well, he’s now on the radar at boxingscene…Comment

Its his 4 losses that are the problem. The fights that are on youtube show that he has good power. I'll put a few up here soon...Interestingly enough, per boxrec, Abell is scheduled to face Al Cole in a rematch in the exact place where they fought the first time- Karlstad, Sweden. Here is the fight he gets ko'd in, About 2:20
The other fights I saw aren't on there anymore, or atleast, I couldn't find them. The one I wanted to put up showed that he had good 1 punch power...Comment

Thanks, the knockdown in that vid was pretty sweet. You can see the sweat flying off Abell's face as he get punched out!...

There was only a second or two left in the round when that Andrew Greeley fight was stopped.

Joey Abbell can not seem to catch a break these days. His last fight against Raphael Butler resulted in a NC as the following synopsis explains:
The referee, Bobby Brunette, didn't hear the bell signaling the end of the first round and instructed the fighters to come together after the round ended. Butler, who had not yet recovered from being knocked down at the end of the round, was hit flush on the head with a power shot from Abell, and folded. Butler's corner entered the ring and confronted Brunette and Abell, whereupon Abell's corner entered the ring to defend their man. A brawl ensued.Comment
