That's completely understandable, and I respect that because you're a real fan. We need more people in boxing who are real fans, and not dumb nuthuggers, or bandwagon jumpers.I know ima get alot of trash talking and put downs but that's how I feel towards Oscar De La Hoya...i've been a fan since way back to the Fight against Ruelas...he was a beast! I've always admired him him, although the Pacquiao fight pissed me off from the getgo...since it ws signed, but hey I still rooted for him as a loyal fan, and I love Pacman. I still look up to Oscar, even though he gets alot of heat, it's a family thing, My family has always held Oscar in the highest regard, and the same with JMM...that's like our next favorite man...And Manny also.
I was never a big fan of Oscar, and he really gets **** on around here these days. But whether people like to admit it or not, the fact is ; Oscar got people interested in boxing again.
I'm not going to say he "saved" it, because the sport wouldn't have died without him.
But he came along at the right time, had some good skills, was attractive and wellspoken, and had serious crossover appeal.
He did a lot for our sport, and brought in a ****load of new fans, and money in the process.
And he's still doing it to this day, with BGP. Doing his best to get the fans the fights they want to see, and paying the fighters in his stable the money that they deserve.
That's respectable.

Oscar stank-up more big fights than anybody in history. That's completely understandable, and I respect that because you're a real fan. We need more people in boxing who are real fans, and not dumb nuthuggers, or bandwagon jumpers.

As I said ; I was never a fan of him as a fighter.
But you have to respect what he's done for the sport in terms of generating intrest, money, and bringing in new fans.
And he did have some really good fights, too.
He gets slagged for losing a lot of them, or not performing up to par.
But the Quartey fight, and the Vargas fight were dope as hell.Comment
