I am finally a believer in Andre Ward

I was really down on ward before the miranda fight. He just did not seem like he wanted to take the bull by the horns with his career. He was moved slowly and was not put in with anyone that could compete with his skill level. The Miranda fight showed me more than just that he can beat a contender it showed a lot about words mentality and mental toughness. He when out in front of his home town took on a proven contender and a man eater at that and exicuted a great gameplan under the biggest pressure he has ever faced. To me that was more ipressive to me than the fight itself. Now the major question is, Can Ward beat another technician like himself he proved he can nullify a experianced punch but can he out box a solid boxer with similar skills in a big fight that still remains to be seen. IMO I think he can deppending on who it is he is fighting there are a lot of good fighters at his weight all with vastly more experiance but truth be told its a good time to be Ward. He will get fights because someone will want his O he can be a draw if the fight is marketed well and he is not a world beater so he won't scare opponents off.

I'm the opposite, I thought Ward was better then what he showed in the Miranda fight. He used clinching as a tactic, and I don't enjoy fights like that. Don't know how he wasn't dq'd maybe because the ref was a ***** and afraid of the crowd? Wheeler was dq'd for clinching against marquez and he didn't even clinch as much as Ward did to Miranda... Boxing is a shadey sport.

I was like, Andre Ward? I've seen a very little of him and said, vs. Miranda?! Let me see what Ward is made out of, I wasn't impressed, it was a turn off. He ran, held, excessevly used his elbow/ forearm, couldn't help but dislike the guy. The fight was boring as hell and I disliked the fact that the commentators were making the fight out to be FOTY material.

he only clinched alot in the last 2 or so rounds.

            miranda's headbutts are worse.

Absolutly agree with your assesment of the fight but who ever held off miranda with out knocking him out Wards really the only one. Was he holding clinching and all that yes sir as I mentioned in the post the fight ****** what I was getting at was how he handled the pressure I guess. I think He would have made more of a fight of it had he had another name under his belt and more confidence. Also it takes two to tango miranda could have done things to avoid clinches but chose to just bull ahead.

Once I saw an amateur fight of his and knew his character, I knew he was the goods.
