In the 60's they didn't have PPV, they had closed circuit broadcasts in theaters. Pre exiled Ali would be considered by far the biggest attraction.

Ali, then Mayweather, because he was black and in that time, more people would have wanted to see him lose. Mayweather would be alot more hated

very little has changed... but yeah there's definitely a parallel between Ali and Floyd and their personalities.
