Pac while getting some great wins hasn't improved as much as hyped imo and a old tired Morales schooled him first time out. Pac improved alot since then no doubt but not as dramatically as people claim, his last 3 fights flattered him alot.

I love el terrible erik moralez he is one of my favorites of all time and was always entertaining to watch. But to say he schooled pacquiao in their first encounter is far from the truth.true indeed at the very beginning of their battle he established his jab keeping pac-man out of range and off balance and at times forcing the filipino icon on the ropes. But once pac got in the pocket moralez started to fight like the warrior that we known him for. The fight was back n forth until the sudden clash of heads that turned the fight completly into moralez direction. With blood flowing down his face the filipino warrior fought his heart out but just couldnt see what was coming his way. But to answer this thread question i would favor a prime erik moralez over manny pacquiao...

Morales was at his best in their first fight. Pac has got better. But its too close to call.

Gotta go with Morales, even in the 2nd fight where he was so out of it, he was still winning the fight.

I'd have to go with Morales, though it is a 50/50 fight.

Even at the tail end of his career, Morales had no problem beating Pacquiao in their first fight.

Granted at the time, Pac wasn't a complete fighter yet. He was lefty only.

But he started using the right hand more in the second fight, and Morales still handled him pretty well in that one until his legs just gave out. The knockdown that ended the fight wasn't even a legit knockdown, Pacquiao was throwing, but not landing much. Erik just went down out of sheer exhaustion.

As I said, close one.

But I'd go with Erik, at any weight. Especially at Bantamweight. Morales was a tank at that weight.

Well imo that fight fits this quote or something similar to this quote "great boxers have one last great performance in them." That Morales was on the way out he got beaten by a bum in his fight after, also that wasn't really prime Pac either, Prime pac is atm (imo).

no he wasn't, not even close. His best weight is 122, his best stretch was from about Zaragosa to the first Barrera fight

Erik's marginal UD win over Pac was a FLUKE.


the much smaller Pac coming up in weight was not mentally focused and took the fight lightly, fighting with one eye and bleeding badly because of the headbutt but still managed to damage Morales.
