Even if there is some truth to that Shane has called Floyd out before even during the time frame of not being desperate for money. I always thought that Mosley expressed interest in Floyd after he dominated Collazo. And of course, Mayweather went after Hatton. Another thing you need to realize too, is Shane is getting taken to the cleaners because of his divorce with Jin.
