Good for Floyd, I've already gave him his credit. I don't like the guy but he's by far the most skilled of this generation. However he did avoid big fights...that can't be denied. Calzaghe on the other hand chased the big fights and had Jones turn him down to fight bums of the month and Hopkins turned down a career high payday to fight him to fight Hakkar (who?) for a small purse. Hardly Calzaghe's fault for these fights not being made like you're suggesting. Anyone with a shred of knowledge knows who the duck is between the two (Joe and Floyd).

Glen Johnson was a nobody then, he hadn't even fought Jones to get his recognition. Calzaghe pulled out of the Johnson fight because of a re-occurring injury. It's a well known fact that he's injury prone and had to pull out of several fights through his career. Did he duck Sheika, Lacy, Jones, etc when he had to postpone? The fact is Johnson pulled out of the fight because he didn't want to wait around, which was fair enough. It was in the contract that if Calzaghe got injured the fight would be re-scheduled but Johnson didn't want to wait. So I don't see who you can call that ducking. Calzaghe was lined up to face him again a couple of years later and was ringside at Johnson-Woods when Johnson lost. The fight could have went either way but that's not Joe's problem.Comment

You can't use the "he was a nobody" excuse because Joe's entire resume consists of NOBODIES.
