Arguably the worst opening post I've ever seen on a thread.

Hopkins, Toney and Jones mop the canvas with Calzaghe in their primes

      no doubt calzaghe was great...

but a prime, motivated & well prepared james toney would really test that greatness...

        How do you figure ?

        Toney has losses to journeyman.

        Calzaghe has already beaten Hopkins.

The Jones fight would of been tough but who has Jones beat who is better than Cazlaghe besides a weight drained James Toney and a green Hopkins? An inshape Southpaw like Calzaghe gives him trouble any day of the week, not saying he wins but he has a good chance.

A prime Calzaghe would give a prime Roy Jones the biggest test of his career. I would favour Jones, but Calzaghe would have a great chance.

Joe is underrated, but I always thought that was partially down to him... a few big names on his record would have silenced the critics

But back to the point, Joe was arguably the most awkward fighter of recent times.

              No he wouldn't.

If a prime Calzhage was that good he did a damn good job hiding it..LOL.

                Archie Moore was great.

                Bob Foster was great.

You can't put Joe in that category.

Its a logical point of view.

Calzaghe would of tested Jones more than a green Hopkins and a weight drained Toney did.

I can't understand how people can **** on Calzaghe. The guy has fought all-comers for over a decade. He's prevailed in the face on some very stiff tests (Kessler, Hopkins & Reid - who is highly underrated). He works hard in the ring and gives the crowd plenty of entertainment. His chin is superb and his powers of recovery after a big punch are nothing short of astonishing. His technique is highly unusual but incredibly effective. I don't think I've seen as ADAPTABLE a boxer in many years (he can fight inside, outside, to the body and head, his footwork is exceptional as is his timing). He's super-fit (how many 35yos are able to throw 1,000 punches per fight?) and his face has barely a scratch on it.

If you're looking for opinions don't bother with the usual group of NSB bull****ters and their rabid anti-Calzaghe diatribe. Read and listen to those of the people Calzaghe fought and beat - Jones, Kessler, Hopkins & Eubank. These guys know a good fighter when they see one and all are of the opinion that Calzaghe is the goods.

Joe has earned the right to be labelled one of the greats. I certainly don't begrudge it him.
