IMO PPV are terrible for boxing's general popularity, I remember seeing the viewing figures for some of the old fights on ITV and fighters like Eubank, Benn and Bruno would often get 10million plus viewers even Audley Harrision vs Danny Williams 1 got around 8 million if i remember rightly, so imo less than 1million PPV buys is awful. I know it makes money but fighters would have a much bigger fan base if they were on free television. What promoters could do is have all there young fighters on free TV to build up there popularity and then just have there big fights on PPV.
PPV viewing figures are awfull

Yea some fighters fail the see the value of taking short money to build themself up into a start they jsut want the most money as fast as possible. If you take things at a steady pace I think you are much more likely to make a mint then just trying to cash in whenever you can.IMO PPV are terrible for boxing's general popularity, I remember seeing the viewing figures for some of the old fights on ITV and fighters like Eubank, Benn and Bruno would often get 10million plus viewers even Audley Harrision vs Danny Williams 1 got around 8 million if i remember rightly, so imo less than 1million PPV buys is awful. yeah but Sky Sports Setanta and the equivalent over in America i suppose HBO and Showtime are not free, i know that the general viewing figures on the mainstream channels ITV and BBC are massively higher than the subscription sport channels. I doubt any boxing event on sky has got much above 1million viewers ever where as ITV can pull in 10million plus for a big event.Last edited by Davros?; 05-22-2009, 02:54 PM.Comment
