Floyd being sued by a rap label in NYC
Boxing champion-turned-record executive FLOYD MAYWEATHER, JR. has been targeted in a lawsuit by bosses of a New York management company, accusing him of stealing a rap artist for his label.
Bosses at Long Island-based Just for You Entertainment accuse the undefeated champion of "surreptitiously signing" Freck Billionaire - real name Jeffrey Whitters - to Philthy Rich last year (08).
Just for You executives claim to have spent $155,000 (£97,410) on studio time, living costs, and travel expenses under an exclusive contract signed with the rapper in 2005. They are seeking at least $600,000 (£400,000) in damages, reports the New York Post.
Mayweather, Jr. could not be reached for comment as WENN went to press.
This sucks especially since Mayweather never managed to make any money on that artist. Freck Billionaire is garbage supreme. Why did he think it was a good move stealing him away from a management company before he proved his worth? If anything he should have let the guy blow up under them and then buy him out if he ended up seeming to be worth it.
