Inkin vs. Perdomo for WBA interim title on July 11

    From fight news:

    Inkin-Perdomo for WBA interim title!

    By Alexey Sukachev

WBA #1 Gusmyl Perdomo (16-2, 10 KOs) and WBA #2 Denis Inkin (34-1, 24 KOs) will confront each other on July 11 at famous Nuerburgring race track in Germany for the interim version of the WBA super middleweight belt. The fight has been confirmed today by Denis’ manager Edouard Kozhemyakin during his interview for the established Russian web portal Allboxing.ru.

“Denis is in his training camp near Belorechensk right now. He is improving his technical skills and physical conditions. The first stage of preparations will be conducted in Belorechensk and nearby city of Sochi; in early June Denis will fly to Germany where he is set for the second stage of his training work under the guidance of the head coach Magomed Schaburow”, said Kozhemyakin.

Russian Denis Inkin, 31, who is also ranked #5 by the WBO and #14 by the IBF, is coming off a close loss to Hungarian Karloy Balszay this January. German-based Venezuelan Perdomo, also 31, has only lost on points to German contenders Mario Veit and Dmitry Sartizon during his career. Reigning champion Mikkel Kessler (41-1, 31 KOs), who last fought in October 2008, is unable to defend his belt due to ongoing legal disagreements with promoter Mogens Palle.

Sad news for Kessler as it can only be interpreted as he will remain inactive for an even longer period.

Pursebids was postponed giving room for volontary negotiations. Those negotiations should end by mid july. If the parties fail to come to agreement THEN there would be a pursebid.

I don't understand what's going on at all. Maybe WBA is about to strip Kessler or maybe he's about to vacate.

In any event it would appear Kessler is out of action well into autumn.

This is wrong. Promotor Klaus-Peter Kohl today denies the above rumours according to danish ekstrabladet.dk. The rumours came from Inkin manager Edward Kozhemyakim but promotor Kohl today shoots them down.

Negotiations between Perdomo and Kessler starts monday and can last up to a month.

Well, I hope there are no more delays because of the promotion problems. The inactivity has got to be having a negative effect on Kessler.

Indeed. He will have been out of action for nearly a year when he fights Perdomo and it's not related to injuries. Just a managerial dispute. So sad that a young man is kept from working.
