  • Marquez' hands are much larger than Floyd's

11 1/2" for Marquez to 8" for Mayweather. Hand size is a contributor to punching power. This may partially be the reason Marquez has been able to carry his punching power to the Lightweight division so well. In his only two fights at 135, JMM was able to KO Casamayor and Juan Diaz, who had never been previously knocked out. This is very meaningful, given that Marquez was coming up in weight and spent the vast majority of his career at Featherweight.

Given all the **** I just mentioned, do you all believe that Marquez can carry his punching power to the catchweight of 144 and be able to hurt Floyd if he can catch him with a clean shot (or two, or three). And remember, Floyd's been off for a year and a half. Just interested in your thoughts, that's all.

I can't see how Marquez couldn't hurt anyone remotely his size if he landed clean.

      Dude, is clinical.

He can hurt Floyd. Whether he can land a flush punch to hurt Floyd is a different matter.

I'm not sure handsize matters, Mayweather has small hands and could KO people from 126 to 147.

I think the question of "does hand size affect punching power" was brought up on that show with bernard hopkins the other day. Hopkins said punching power has nothing to do with hand size but more to do with speed and accuracy. Marquez probably gets his power more from his precise punching.

My boy 'Quez got cinder blocks for hands, the dude can crack and if he landed cleanly he can put Money on his ass, the question is can he really land cleanly against one of the best defensive fighters of our time? I sure hope he can.
