Escobedo Crushes Kelley, Jordan Decisions Morales

Lightweight contender Vicente Escobedo (21-1, 13KOs) continues his busy streak, stopping Carlos Hernandez last month in Texas, and returns less than two months later to crush former champion Kevin Kelley (60-10-2, 39KOs) in two rounds at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California. Escobedo fought four times in 2008 and would like to at least fight that many times in 2009. [details]

Kelley should really retire, he was done when he fought Barrera, that was 6 years ago.

I read somewhere recently that HBO is interested in Katsidis vs Escobedo and could possibly have that as the opener for Juan Diaz August return. That would be a pretty good fight. Both of those guys were victorious on the Lightweight Lightning PPV (which was a damn good PPV) and that was originally labeled as tournament style. Pretty sure the Juan Diaz fight is in Houston, where Valero can get approved to fight, so why not place the other winners on that card on there and make it a triple header? Valero vs Reyes, Katsidis vs Escobedo, and Juan Diaz vs ... I don't know, Cassamayor. Triple header on Boxing After Dark to build steam towards a fight between two of these guys, most likely Diaz vs Valero.... I guess that would all make too much sense.

                    Very good win for Chente....
I expected Kelley to hang in there a bit, but Chente had that killer instinct and blew him out! There are talks of him getting a title shot some time at the end of the year or early 2010.

The fights werent that bad, Jordans fight was horrible though, too bad for him cause he's pretty local and dissapointed us last night.
