Fighters are finnally taking over boxing!!!

Do You feel as good as I feel about the meteoric rise of De la Hoya and B Hop as fight promoters? For years top tier fighters have been getting the short end of the stick. Under-handed, mafia type dealings with Don King and Bob Arum have the some of our most celebrated warriors with there asses in the wind at the end of their careers. I foresee these guys sweeping all the dirt from under the rug and right out of the front door. You cant under estimate their knowledge of the sport nor their star power, especially teamed up with the biggest mouth in boxing Pretty Boy Floyd. I pray that they keep their compassion for the people they represent and put boxing back at the top of the sports world where it belongs.

Im asking you first do you feel good about it? and secondly do you think they will have that type of influence?
I formally apologize for this waisted thread.

Once a promoter has made the investment and turned someone into a DLH or a Mayweather, its real easy for the fighter then to want to be their own promoter, because all the heavy lifting has already been done.

The REAL test will be to see if these new "promoters" are also willing to make that investment in developing new talent, where maybe 1 out of 50 fighters you sign actually turns into someone you can make money on.

So far GBP has been the only one willing to put their money where their mouth is. Time will tell if any of the others will...............

I think its great. Boxers are starting to eat now as when guys like Ali, leonard etc have put there heart and soul into the sport, only to be robbed by gready promoters. Oscar is one of the main reason also, so big ups to him.

I couldn't agree more, this just proves boxing has come a long way from its shady Mob days when promoters were just front men to their greed while exploiting boxers talent and depriving them of a decent future in "health with wealth."

        Peace.
