They fought Oscar at 147 KNOWING that he would have a hard time making weight and that Manny's speed would be his biggest asset in that fight....
The way I see it....if Mosely and Cotto want to fight Pac....they are the ones ASKING for the fight....so THEY are the ones who should meet Pac's terms....Pac is the P4P champ and everyone wants a piece of him (for money not for glory) so why should the King have to concede to other's terms? Perfect example.....Floyd is back....everyone knows that HE is the reason that the Marquez fight will do well money wise, Marquez knows that he will get his biggest payday ever just by fighting Floyd, so why pass up on that opportunity even if it means going to a weight that he's never fought at before? Easy....money money money....you want the champ...meet him on his terms..simple as that.
Oh...and is a man who started off at 106lb REALLY a legit Welterweight...I don't think so.

2) pac officially weighed 138 lbs against hatton just a few weeks ago. when was the last time cotto officially weighed 138 lbs???

3) roach never intended for pac to campaign at WW

4) unless cotto agrees to 142, this fight shouldn't even be discussed. Get down to 142 lbs or GTFO and fight mosley

He isn't "making" them come down in weight. FFS, people act like Roach has these guys sitting naked in steel cages, whipped daily and being fed on nothing but lettuce for 3 months.

What Roach said was that IF they can come down a few pounds maybe a fight can be made. This is because Roach is protecting his fighter and not allowing someone like Cotto or Mosely (who do NOT call the shots as far as a Pacquioa fight is concerned) to have a big weight advantage.

Any trainer with an ounce of sense and consideration for the well-being of his fighters would do the same thing.

yes it is. if you don't think it is, try losing as much weight as possible over a 2-3 month period all while getting your ass in shape to go 12 rounds against another man who has been training to take your head off. when you get to that point, lose another 7 pounds on top of that.
