come on man this is silly, Cotto fought those guys as set up fights, Gomez was to set up Margarito and Jennings was to set up another big fight which happened to be Clottey, no different from the way Bernard had to face Holmes in order to set up Trinidad, Jennings and Gomez just happened to be the men chosen and they aren't tomato cans entirely, they are solid boxers whom werent on his level, like Bruseles, Mitchell Baldomir and Augustus werent on Floyd's.. that's like me saying who's tougher Shane Mosley or Henry Bruseles, you'd look at me like huh?? that's 2 different leagues of caliber opponents to compare and you know it. ALL fighters including Mayweather take those kinds of fights, like Mosley-Estrada or Margarito-Johnson for example, it's part of the game fam..

Mayweather vs Marquez is also seen as a set up fight.

Marquez is the far superior fighter to Jennings and Gomez but they are both actual welterweights.

Cotto faced Gomez because it was to setup a big fight with Margarito. The Jennings fight was a comeback fight after his brutal TKO loss to Margarito and was also to get a title around his waist.

Even though Marquez doesn't belong anywhere near welterweight he isn't a tune up fight. It's an insult to Marquez to call him a tune up. It's neither a tune up or a big fight because of Marquez's disadvantage in weight.

okay granted and good for him, Marquez is a solid fighter but in no way shape or form a 140+ pound fighter, it's just not his league and to face such a skilled opponent in Mayweather in a weight where Floyd will be fast and Marquez may just be slow is statistical murder, Floyd outpoints him in every aspect because of his speed, Pacquiao was able to drop Marquez by shots he couldn't see, what do you think will happen when a faster man is throwing heavier bombs? it's not even so much what Floyd will do to marquez, it's more like what Marquez CAN'T do to Floyd ya dig. it evens out when you consider the stipulations. even though it's not a tune up fight it is a set up fight, Marquez comes from a pool of smaller men, Floyd has grown into 147 so he is bigger than those men making him the biggest man Marquez has ever met on paper, these are all factors that contribute to this being more to Floyd's favor from a physical view

Matthew Hatton is more of a challenge then Jennings.
