What are the rules for catchweights?

The Mayweather-Marquez catchweight got me thinking.. Do you have to weigh in specifically at 144, or can Marquez possibly come in a little below that contracted weight?

Whatever the set # is, you can't weigh in any higher. It's WW, so JMM gotta be above 140, but not above 144. Anywhere 141-144 is legal.

First rule is you have to CATCH the weight.

if you dont your lined up for Guzman bout.(Guzman is defending champ)

Second rule dont run.(by the way those two are runners)

if you do run your lined up again with Guzman bout.(Guzman is runner too)

Thats right because thats the best fighting weight of JMM the same weight he fought at with his last 3 opponents KOing 2 off them , Floyd will weigh real close to 147 on entering the ring ,, this is a pretty fair fight based on real weight .

you have to be a household name to create your own weight class.

            triniweight(170)
            mayweatherweight(144)

it's like if the lakers said, **** 5 on five, where playing 3 on 3, kobe lamar and pau.

LOL and those guys have a better idea of what weight is about than boxing bureauc**** writing the rules and have never laced on a glove .

But really what is significant the weight classification , because thats all it is , a title , a label , a few words , a blanket thrown over a group , is that the biggest importance in a boxing match or the actual fight itself and what they really weighed while fighting ,

Catch weights are great because there aim is about creating a fair matchup between them when one of the fighters has a physical advantage over the other beyond the call of duty of a fair fight and the people in the know being trainers and fighters will call a catch weight ,,,, give me catch weight any day of the week over a manipulated day before weight that by its very nature allows one to come in the physical monster over the other ,,,, *** the labels they should be wrapped around the fight as secondary , not the fight wrapped around the labels like its primary , how can anything be more important that the fight itself , too many fans are hype driven not fight game driven so they dont care how it works just so long as their fav is the best always , thats all they want to know , and ironically the only thing thats not a Hollywood production in boxing is the fight itself !

Both have to weigh in right at 144. If they are below they have a choice between doritos and hush puppies to gain the weight. They have one hour to gain the weight, or the fight is off.
