Well for starters, respectable rappers like Talib Kweli, and Nas cite 2pac as their main influence to rap. A lot of successful rappers name 2pac as their influence.
If you wanna talk about album sales and popularity
Me Against The World went 5x Platinum, All Eyez On Me went Diamond status(9Mill basically Diamond) His first album, 2pacolypse Now, wasn't as successful as his other albums but went Gold(500k) nonetheless, that's what rappers are struggling to sell nowadays, and that was 2Pac's worse(record sale-wise) while he was alive. His posthmus albums whatever it's called, had lyrics that he recorded when he was alive(unlike biggies posthmus albums that use lyrics from old songs and just change the beat) the lyrics were unused until he died. His Last album as Makavelli, also went Diamond status in the US, and 28 Mill worldwide....
"As of 2006, the album had sold over 28 million copies worldwide, making it the best selling album in Hip-Hop history"
It's called the Don Killuminati The 7 day theory, People actually get this album confused and think it's a posthumous album because it came out after he died but in this was the last album he actually recorded. R U Still Down is his first Posthumous album.
Well there's a lot more to this man but that's all i'm gonna type for now, this was all from the top of my head i swear i didn't google anything at all(besides the quote), lol. But yeah, I hope you see how good he was now.
If he's so good why is he dead, well...Why is the world round?..Last edited by Kevin Jesus; 05-20-2009, 09:27 PM.Comment
