This is what Cotto looked like the last time he fought at 140 lbs:

Going down near that weight right now would be almost impossible.

****, I lose 2 pounds every time I go to the crapper. Cotto should just man up and fight Williams.

Not when you're dehydrated down to a weight 20 pounds under what you walk around at

Pac can't fight effectively as a full fledged WW, so don't bother wit the catchweight bull****. Stick to your own ****in divisions unless you can go full tilt at the next weight.

i been watching boxing since forever.

but have never understood a two pound discrepancy.
You have not been watching boxing for ever and if you have, you were not paying attention.
                    Phuking *****s.

I don't think many guys here have actually cut weight. Most guys here when they think about losing some weight they are talking about losing some fat.

Its a totally different animal when your already in top shape. At that point you can only dry out (lose water weight) and or start to actually lose muscle. I believe its safe to say that Cotto is in good shape for his fights and that he is already drying himself out for 147lbs then rehydrates.

If he is already dry making 147lbs then those 5lbs to 142lbs is HUGE and nearly impossible to cut and remain athletically sound.

I wrestled and in order to keep kids from literally killing themselves doing this there are certifications for your minimum weight class a person can compete in. Getting certified takes body fat and hydration level.
