But for all you dumb posters out there, please name me a top 5 welter thats actually ready for a fight with Mayweather on July 18th.

    Im waiting.................................

Mosley....... he said he wont be fighting till the end of the year
Cotto and Clottey fightiing next month
    Margarito's banned
    Berto just fought Collazo

So who else is there? Thats what some of you guys fail to understand.
But fighting a Lightweight is justifiable?

Why not fight a "Real" tune up fight against a top 10 Weltwerweight? It would be the return of Floyd Mayweather...but maybe that won't sell as much? BUt apparently Floyd is THE draw in Boxing if I'm not mistaken?

    Hmmmmm

As a fight fan i'd rather watch Mayweather-JMM, than Mayweather-Collazo!

Mosley wont fight again till end of the year, but i dont think Floyd wants anything to do with him now.

Fighting Marquez makes sense for him..... The guys ranked no2 p4p and it makes more money sense. I fully understand why Floyd's fighting Marquez.

You guys can call him a '*****' all you want, most of you guys have never even put on a set of boxing gloves! lol

For the $ he likely woulda got, I'm sure Berto woulda taken the fight if he was offered it. That fight could be takin place within the next month or so had it been arranged. And I know Mr boat buyer wants nothin to do wit SSM or Cotto. Those guys are the top WW's right now (assumin Cotto don't lose to Clottey) and both are top 10 p4p guys. Mr boat buyer would surely be back in the top 3 or 4 if he took on and beat them. he ain't got the balls tho. And btw, I'm damn well no professional, but I have boxed before yrs back.

See i just find it hard to take when guys like yourself expect Floyd to fight Cotto on his ring return.

I would always reccomend a fighter take a tune up, who ever it is after a lay off.

Yea, I'd love to see Roy Jones vs Floyd Mayweather, but realistically that's not going to happen.

Floyd picked Marquez because of his position in rankings overlooking the fact that he had just moved up to Lightweight to fight Diaz in his last fight. Floyd's last 4 fights have been at 147 and above. How does it really look for him fighting a Lightweight and making him jump up 2 weight classes at 36 yrs old?

I don't understand where one would find this to be a competitive fight, I really don't

Berto just fought Collazo? He's fighting again three weeks before Floyd is!

Mosley would have gladly taken the July date, if it was offered to him.

I never expected him to face Cotto or SSM in his comeback fight at this point. Mr boat buyer is entitled to a tuneup like any fighter is, just do it against a fighter in your own division.

Percisley, especially considering that a tune up against another WW would help against guys like Cotto or Shane who are going to be hitting a lot harder and will bring much more pressure than Marquez ever could.

Hence why I don't see this as a tune up fight but more a good way to get Floyd some money without heavy risk just yet.

well, the excuse that floyd isn't really a WW has been demolished; so hopefully he will fight mosley and cotto next.
