Was Oscar The Best Fighter At 154, when Floyd fought him?

Hard to say, it was a year since the Mayorga fight, and more than a year and a half before that without any fights at all for Oscar. He was 9 years past his peak at #1 p4p, there were certainly more challenging and active fights at 154 to be made. But hey, people are arguing that most 147 lbers are too big for Floyd, so I guess the odds of him fighting a legit 154 lber are 0 and none.

He moved up to fight OSCAR , it was money prestige and something Floyd had been trying to do for a very long time , OSCAR called the shots on everything and made Floyd earn the fight by winning linear WW title to get the fight , then Floyd had to give him nearly 16 pounds on the night of the fight .

Its was nothing to do with the best at 154 it was about fighting the biggest name in boxing , just like Manny who fought Oscar for very the same reason .

I dont know, but even if he was, Oscar was only a big fish in a small pond and Floyd only beat him by 1 round on 1 scorecard. Personally I think Spinks or Karmazin would be far more dangerous to Floyd than Oscar, although it is possible that Oscar was the best fighter at 154 overall.

Considering 154 was **** when they fought, saying Yes doesn't make Floyd look that much better.

But if thats the answer you're looking for, then Yes I guess.
