should a boxers speed be a measured statistic?

like punches per second? or maybe the recorded time it takes for his hand to reach a target placed in front of him? i think it would be interesting to know that info. they are always coming up with new stats to keep track of in other sports. why not modernize boxing or add some technology to the mix. i do like hbos new thing where they show where all the punches have landed. this would be another good addition i think.

no because that's too much of a variable

a boxer's reach doesnt change, a boxer's height doesnt change

too many factors are involved to be able to have speed as a statistic.

yeah. there are lots of variables. but a way to standardize it would be to have everyone throw the same punch. either a jab or a left hook. maybe even just there money punch specifically.

Good idea. But, it is scientifically impossible to measure Zabs hand speed nothing is fast enough.

            but still

for example, i'm sure manny's a lot faster halfway through a work out when he's pumped from sparring, adrenaline rushing - then say, first thing in the morning before breakfast. just too many things to factor in

Happens to me all the time too. I am physically superior to the people I respond to and get promoted above them. Its hard being great.

I would much rather see this stat than that new punchtracker HBO has.
