He did, apparently due to injury. Glen was penciled in to fight Joe if he beat Clinton Woods. Remember the press from around that time? Calz said he was really looking forward to a fight with Johnson and was openly rooting for him. It's a shame he never got the nod over Woods cause I would have loved to have seen a Joe-Glen fight. I still think Joe should have given Glen a shot regardless, it's one criticism I have of Calzaghe. It was only fair to give Glen a fight. Shame on you, Slappy.

IMO he beats all of them, and loses to Hopkins.
Yes, a fully-functional Joe beats Hopkins. Tough fight due to horribly conflicting styles, though.

We should have had a rematch.

It couldn't have been more ugly of a fight then the first time out?

Yikes. Their first fight (which could have gone either way), which I thought Hopkins won, coupled with the thyroid infection Hopkins had suggests that Calzaghe would not ***** slap Hopkins from pillar to post.

OK, let's include JC's smashed up hands as well, seeing as we're making excuses.

No doubt it was close, but Hopkins didn't do enough to win. Straight right, steam in head first, grab and hold... straight right, steam in head first, grab and hold. I think he messed it up for himself too by crawling on the floor on all fours. Whether there was a low blow or not, nobody believed him, they thought he was acting up to get points taken off Calzaghe. Sorry 'Nard, I love you man, but you failed.

No excuses, but the man was 43 and I though he did more than enough to win the fight. If you rewatch the fight you will see that Calzaghe wasn't landing the punches you talk about unless you count the punches to the shoulder back and all of the rabbit punches. You're my homie Sam, but Calzaghe did not clearly win that fight, nor does it show that he is a better fighter than Hopkins.

havent seen ward or dirrel so didnt pick them, but the only one i didnt pick was Kessler at 168. Not sure how effective Joe would be dropping back down in weight, and Kessler would be very eager to even the score. Not saying Kessler would win but that would be his toughest fight imo.
Hopkins would be pretty similar to the first fight, only probably slightly better as i cant imagine a fight being THAT awful again. Joe wins a very close, boring fight where neither guy gets hurt.
