Friday Night Fight Results from Yonkers NY

O'Shea Bros. Boxing Promotions, based out of Yonkers, NY, is a new family of boxing bringing some of the toughest and best Boxing to the fans the right way! 2009 is our first year of business and we look forward to bringing you the hottest names and best fights boxing has to offer in the NYC area.

Friday May 15th, was our first boxing show put together at the Yonkers armory. The house was packed for Friday Night fights as we had a card full of back and forth action. On display was hot up and coming prospects and home-town heroes delivering and showcasing their talents.

    ***********
    Vincent Arroyo

Vincent Arroyo(8-0 5KOs) was dominant in stopping Roberto Acevedo (9-4-3 1KO) who didn't answer the bell for the start of the 7th round in a bout scheduled for 8. It was apparent from the beginning who was the more skilled fighter as Arroyo came out landing hard right hands and establishing his jab from the first round. Acevedo was game but was outgunned by the younger Arroyo. A bad cut was opened underneath Acevedo's left eye as a result from the right hands ****ing off the side of his face. It seemed that Acevedo couldn't get away from the bigger guy who put the pressure on all night.

Hometown favorite Shqiprim Miriqi (1-0) didn't disappoint the hundreds of supporters who came out to see him fight. When the kid labeled "The White Tiger" came out to make his entrance to the ring the crowd erupted in cheers. It seemed like everytime he threw a punch or even evaded a shot the place was going ballistic. In the end, he pounded out a 4 round unaminous decision over Charles Wade (1-6 1KO).

The fight between Jean Carlos Prada(4-0-1 1KO) and Ashanti Hendrickson(1-3) was an absolute war. Both guys were landing their big shots. The difference in the fight was a left hand that staggered and dropped Hendrickson alongside the ropes in the second round. The rest of the fight seemed to see Prada cruising along to a Decision victory. However, in the last 30 seconds of the 4th and final round Hendrickson landed a huge right hook that had Prada stumble across the ring clearly hurt. He covered up on the ropes trying to hang on with Hendrickson pounding away as the crowd roared. Somehow, Prada survived to the final round as both men were lifted on the shoulders of their cornermen as the crowd applauded with a standing ovation. The result was a unanimous decision victory for Prada with the 2nd round knockdown of Hendrickson being the difference.

Juan Zegarra(1-0 1KO) made quick work of Jose Guerrido(0-4) in his pro debut. The first round Zegarra landed a right hand that shook up Guerrido. Then in the second round Zegarra landed a barrage of punches that forced the referee to stop the bout halfway through the second round.

Anthony Irons(3-2 2KOs) looked impressive in his dismantling of Noel Garcia (1-1-1). Garcia was game but it was Irons landing the meaningful shots as he used his movement and timing to stop Garcia in his tracks everytime he was trying to get inside. After a big shot Irons landed it was Garcia who waved him in for more and Irons proceeded. In the 2nd round Garcia was floored by a overhand right hand. In the final minute of the 3rd round he couldn't get away from an attacking Irons as he took too many punches along the ropes as referee Eddie Claudio stepped in to halt the contest.

The Peruvian prospect Carlos Zambrano (6-0 2KOs) showcased his skills against Angel Lopez(1-5). Zambrano moved in and out, side to side landing hard punches all throughout the bout. Zambrano was trying to do his best imitation of Roy Jones Jr. moving in with his hands down and throwing bolo punches against his overmatched opponent. In the 4th round Lopez went down hard after a barrage of punches. He beat the count but he wouldn't make it out of the round. Zambrano winner by TKO4.

Nydia Feliciano(0-0-1) and Jackie Trivilino(0-1-1) provided the fans with what most said was the most exciting bout of the evening. Both girls came out to fight and showed good skills and went to war. It was a pattern of hard punches landed by each girl that had the crowd going bananas throughout the bout. The judges felt the fight was too close and declared it a draw as the crowd cheered the decision as both women didn't deserve to lose.
