Marquez's Training Winding Down, Vazquez on The Brain

The training camp of Rafael Marquez is winding down. The former champion can't wait to fight after sitting on the sidelines for the last 14-months. He returns on May 23 against Jose Mendoza at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. It is now being reported that Marquez's next fight will be a ten-round featherweight contest. [details]

I enjoyed their trilogy but I honestly don't want to see that fight. Lets move on from a 2 years of fighting the same opponent and explore other options.

lols... the marquez bros are obsessive.

I think the trilogy was pretty conclusive.

I wonder which guy is the most damaged from that trilogy they had with each other. I think Vasquez will come back the worse of the two in my view. At least Rafa Marquez has gotten back in the gym and started training. Izzy is still on the shelf from that damaged retina. Juan Ma and Rafa would be an explosive fight. No need for Izzy and Rafa to fight a fourth time. They would probably take even more damage in a fourth fight with each other than a fight with Juan Ma, and they probably wouldn't even get paid that much better either. Juan Ma is gonna be more popular than Cotto in my estimation because of Cotto's reserved personality. I don't know if Rafa will be able to make 122 again though. It would probably be hard given that layoff. I don't think he's duckin him either like a lot of simple-minded posters are claiming.

Conclusive, not so much. I mean their third fight was REALLY close, almost impossible to call and Vasquez won by a single point. Being that they both won their respective fights int he series by TKO, those fights were somewhat conclusive, yes. But the third fight, as great as it was, left some things open for question.

I think a 4th fight could possibly settle their feud, but I'd rather see them take on the best of the 122 pounders before they have a 4th match. Vasquez takes a tune-up, this is Marquez's tune-up, then perhaps either one of them faces JuanMa.

I think Marquez is better than Vasquez. IMO, this trilogy was similar to Barrera-Morales. Although one man won 2 out of 3, I felt it was more like a draw. A fourth fight is fine with me.

Really who cares for a fourth fight. the only fight that matters is a fight between vasquez vs. lopez. Rafael has shown interest but really both of them are duckin juanma.
