That's just Clottey's style. He employs the turtle shell guard like Arthur Abraham, and decides to throw very sparingly. Cotto's work rate will outdo him. I can see Cotto stopping him late on body punches. I think Cotto's defense is strong enough to avoid Clottey's sparse moments of offense and his strong, accurate punches will take too much of a toll on Clottey, especially at the end of the fight.

The only other fight he was that defensive for was Margarito-Clottey. Cotto doesn't have that work rate to keep Clottey with his hands up all night, he throws combination's and then takes a break. The only way Clottey gets tired is when his opponent dictates a high punch output, but if Cotto gets in his body punches he could very well tire Clottey out. I think Cotto UD's him, but it will be a difficult fight.

Um ok. Clottey stops Judah in his best shape since Mayweather via 9th round TD. Cotto stops Judah on ~400 day layoff in the 11th after 2 viscous low blows in the early rounds when he was getting his ass beat. But Clottey is the one that didn't impress you. Riiiiiiiiiight.

Clottey's style involves losing early rounds. He doesn't take punishment, he makes the other guy tire, and he learns how to time him and proceeds to break him down with sharp counters as the fight progresses. Despite not having a high punch output, Clottey does put on a lot of pressure, making the other fighter have to throw more than they would like. Cotto isn't stopping Clottey because he isn't going to be landing anything meaningful. Cotto also isn't winning the last 4 rounds should it even go 12. Cotto better put 7 out of the first 8 in the bank if he wants to win this. I don't see it happening. Then again, the judges are going to be in the pocket and Clottey will most likely need a KO to win anyways.

Get ready for Azumah Nelson vs Wilfredo Gomez, take 2.

Well he does it against the top fighters then. I just feel that Cotto has power Clottey's never felt before, I think Cotto's body attack improves every fight, he may not be a 1 punch KO type of guy, but I believe by the 8, 9, 10 rounds, Cotto body attack will open Clottey up for the KO. Cotto may take brief spells, but his work rate is still superior to Clottey's.

14K on Cotto to KO Clottey, any takers?

We will see on fight night, Cotto is going to be the best puncher Clottey has faced as you mentioned, furthermore, he knows how to place his punches without wasting them. It should be a great fight.

I think Cotto is the best at the weight but Mosley deserves the number 1 spot on the strength of his win over Tony.

If Clottey beats Cotto Mosley still ranks higher

well it depends who the person think is the CURRENT number 1 WW....it could be Clottey, Cotto or Mosley

for me, Cotto is currently number 1. so if clottey beat cotto, then he becomes number 1 for me
