Why do people hate on Nick Charles and Steve Farhood? I like them better than Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant. I also like Bob Papa and Max Kellerman on HBO Boxing After Dark...

I'm the first one that wants to choke Jim Lampley on HBO telcasts but seeing how bad Showtimes announcers really were.. I'd vote for a Larry Merchant round by round anyday.

They need to rep the next big boxing star, as nuthugging as that sounds.

If Ward keeps boxing for Showtime, he might not get the recognition and promotion that HBO gives their fighters.

That was Johnson, he was very good. He did what too few of our boxing commentators are able to do: get people excited about what was happening.

Charles really, really sucks - he creates no excitement. Farhood is as someone else said very nerdy. They do no good for the popularity of boxing.

No. I think Charles and Farhood are good. Clearly Showtime's production value is lower than HBO's but as far as actual announcing I'd rather listen to announcers who are fans of the sport and knowledgeable than hear Lampley drool over De La Hoya or Merchant "waxing poetic" with some completely irrelevant nonsense.

They should employ Sean O'Grady as commentator.

I actually enjoyed his boxing analysis when he was around.

I usually like Farhood & Charles...... tonight though they kept saying the same things over and over again. I think they were trying to overcompensate for the lackluster in ring action.

Gus Johnson is the man Showtime has to find a way to get him on more, i think hes mostly mma though.
