Let's also take into account that Vargas was not a serious heavyweight prospect. He was much smaller and probably could melt down to a decent cruiserweight.

Johnson has the same attributes that brought Herbie Hide success in the first round against Vitali, with the strength to hang around a little while.

Wladimir and his snappy punches, I dunno. I think Wladimir would put it on his ass.
If we take into account that Vargas is just too lazy to kick off the fat and go to CW, we further discredit Johnson, who was getting tagged last night. Maybe stopping Vargas erased the memories of Vargas getting in between Johnson's gloves and tagging him while Johnson did absolutely nothing.

Try that **** on a real heavyweight.

Still, I was impressed with Johnson's poise.

He reminds me a lot of Larry Holmes, whom Johnson used to be an understudy to. He's talented but lazy, content to give away the initiative and linger on the ropes, not doing much but not taking any punishment. He gave away the first two rounds but I saw how much energy Vargas was expending and how little success he was having and knew the fight was going to turn around in a big way.

I think Johnson is good, we'll see how good once he steps up. I really do believe he'd beat Vitali, and by a lot. Vitali is not the invincible monster he's made out to be.

Honestly, Johnson was getting hit with some real shots. You make it sound like he was dodging everything. Sure, he didn't get hurt- but I attribute that more to the opponent than Johnson himself. He definitely got clocked last night, though.

He was getting hit with stuff but for the most part he wasn't getting hit clean. He was leaning away from punches, rolling with them, taking most of the sting away. It definitely wasn't a masterpiece by any stretch but I see some positive developments in him that made me think differently of him.

There is another young guy by the name of Malik Scott who I think could be something special but he has no desire to step up and go for it, it seems.

He was getting hit clean enough that if it were a puncher standing in front of him closer to his height/size, he'd have been comatose.

The guy has some skills, reasonably fast hands, and plenty of **** (obviously), but look at the guy....he's overmuscled (would gas by 7 against a tougher opponent), has a low work rate, low guard, and thinks he can take any punch thrown at him.

I'd pick either Klitschko to win by homicide before the 9th.

If he gets inspired and throws more against the bros. I think he can k.o Wladdy and decision Vitaly.

                  What do you geezers think?
you're crazy, you need to check yourself into a mental hospital

Johnson is mediocre fighter, he has a lot of flaws. His defense sucks, he has no head movement, he was getting hit flush a lot by that bum Vargas, he has no footwork, low workrate, no power. He struggled against Terry ****in Smith for christ sakes

He would get destroyed by either Klitschko

Feather-fisted? No power? You're an idiot. About the rest, you're mostly right. However, the guy has decent hand speed and workable skill level. He'll probably be pretty popular in a few years (strictly because of his power), but will end up like Sam Peter....made to look clumsy and ****** in the ring against a good technician, or someone tougher than him.

Ok maybe feather fisted is a bit harsh, he has average power at best. Only 9 KO's in 23 fights.
