what happened to Andy Lee man! I was hoping that this dude was going to be an awesome pro. There is no way Brian Vera would have beat El Perro.Comment

I believe Cintron is a much better overall fighter to lose to then Vera though, we have to be honest. Cintron is a good ass fighter, I can't say the same about Vera. But if you want to look past that loss of Andys you can say everyone has a bad night.Comment

I know it looks terrible for Andy Lee to have lost to Brian Vera but if you look at it closely you can see that it was truly an "everything that can go wrong will go wrong" scenario.
First off he overtrained himself and came in at a career light weight of under 159 pounds.
This problem was compounded by the fact that Vera could not make the weight and was allowed to fight at 162 giving him nearly 4lbs plus the advantage of not having to push himself to get to the limit.
Couple these facts with the the way that he picked Vera apart early on, dominating the exchanges and dropping Vera with a solid left.
I think Lee switched himself onto autopilot at that point thinking he had an easy fight when in reality he had a tough and well trained SOB who was accustomed to taking shots from world class supermiddleweights. He failed to put him away when he had a chance and it cost him.
While clearly Vera exposed some of Lee's limitations and weaknesses as a fighter you would have to be naieve to use that fight as a basis for an observation such as "Well Andy Lee got KTFO by Brian Vera so how the hell can he beat ___________"
He is and always has been one of the better middleweight prospects and is a victim of other people's lofty expectations.Comment
