Joshua Clottey's power

I keep hearing from my fellow Cotto fans that this guy cant punch, people are slating his power left right and centre. He only has 20KO's from 35 wins and 37 fights but from what ive seen he can **** a bit with either hand particuarly the left (hook to the body, uppercut to the head) he aint no George Foreman but he can punch no doubt. Now i defended Cotto's chin from the moment people started doubting it, its not shaky, its not weak, theres nothing wrong with it BUT i beleive Clottey can hurt him! If they stood and traded punch for punch Clottey would come out on top in my opinion even tho Cotto is the better puncher slightly.

With that said im expecting Cotto's skills, variety and greater imagination to see him through a tough fight on points. Clottey takes breaks and Cotto has that steady work rate. Cotto will box for the most part but know when to Fight and really mix it up in there


Some other factors to consider are Cotto has had this fall out with his uncle and trainner and will not have him in his corner, we dont know how this will effect Miguel. He is trainning away from PR for the first time to my knowledge anyway, which may throw him but that should all be negated by the fact he has "home" advantage at The Garden on the Eve of PR Day Parade.
Clottey is hungry for this tho and wants it BAD!

Clottey's KO ratio isn't indicative of his power. Clottey can punch. He's a not a huge puncher, but he's accurate and crisp. He's capable of hurting Cotto, but I think the fight is going the distance.

hit the nail on the head friend - clottey explodes out of his shell with 3/4 punch combination ad his left hook is venomous. he is very accurate as you said and like cotto he studies his opponent and what punch to throw before committing.

watch the fight with corrales, margarito and judah - then decide if this guy can punch. there are several occasions where he tags margarito and marg takes a step backwards before coming back in. clottey can ****, dont make the mistake of thinking otherwise.

i think it will be a slow start, and clottey will win via late ko/tko. clottey will take cottos heart and break him, i think its finishin in the distance, if it reaches the cards - cotto by UD
