Michael Jennings Returns To Stop Thompson in Four

At the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, welterweight Michael Jennings (35-2, 17 KOs) returned to the ring for the first time since his crushing knockout loss to Miguel Cotto back in February. He semed to gain back some confidence by stopping previously undefeated Willie Thompson (6-1-1) in the fourth round. [details]

Michael Jennings is a good British/European level fighter.

    Nothing wrong with that.

Not everyone has to be a superstar in boxing.

I like Jennings, he has a lot of heart, good fighter.

I agree with you there Joe but why is he fighting a guy 6-1-1?

And why the fuck do I have to hear about it? This isn't newsworthy. Not even on a slow day.

He fought a guy 6-0, as just a comeback/warm up fight.

Would you prefer him to not fight anyone and just fight someone better in September?

Personally I'd rather a fighter have 2 fights in 7 months than just having one fight.

Thompson who? Good at stopping a prospect who only have less then 8 fights... (6-1-1)

Before coming into the fight, he was unbeaten with a 6-0-1. I to thought it was pretty strange throwing him in with a vetran like Jennings, with only 7 fights under his belt.

I'am sure some UK fans on here will know more about him.

I belive Thompson had also had a draw, his previous fight against Karl Chiverton, making him 6-0-1 coming into the fight.

Well he's officially/clearly earned his way and paved the way to a rematch with Cotto.

In all seriousness, good for him to come back so soon after a crushing loss and get a win.

Jennings is too good to be cutting it with that bum comeback or not. Yeah its nice to get the win and the confidence back but he could have gone straight back on the British scene with little problems.
