Whats Up Canucks....Heres my opinion...In order for Floyd to win he needs to pot shot and run jab to the body and run. This is highly effectinve for him in the first 5 rounds.. After the first 5 Manny usually gets sloppy he needs to dig combo's to the body...by the eigth if it gets there a jab will do the trick...anything after the 8th is a possible K.O for Floyd
Now Manny, Manny is fast and powerful in order for him to win , he needs to use his str8 left and counter right hook , how he did with Hatton. Now skill wise hes out of his league but power wise Mayweather can get K.O'd the key to Manny winning this fight is........He needs to hit FLoyd with a hard Low blo by the 3rd round with his power left. He's short and can get away with it. Then by the 6th round when he gets sloppy, he'll need to do it again and just pulll the oh "aaaah I couldn't see...I just doing my job" thing. If he does this, he can Knock FLoyd out by the 8th with the same right hook that Corley rocked him with and Judah put him down with. after this he'd be hated by americans but would be a legend for beating Floyd.
Cotto did it to Judah, You can do it to FLoyd. Larry Merchant will back you on it, and Floyd will complain but they all hate him and you can retire a legend.

ultimateboxa is on espn chat. lol
Andy (Sydney, Australia): Hi Dan, why is it Anthony Mundine is constantly written off as a big player at Middleweight. And why is a fight between he and Pavlik not being talked about. His speed could cause Kelly real problems. Thanks
Dan Rafael: (1:48 PM ET ) Nobody here cares one iota about Mundine. Let him fight (and beat) a top opponent instead of cherry picking everyone and winning bogus belts. I'm not impressed at all.
Andy (Sydney, Australia): Dan i respect your writing. But Anthony Mundine will prove you wrong. Im telling you the guy will beat Pavlik. His lateral movement will give Kelly problems all night. Can't wait to read your reports then.
Dan Rafael: (2:00 PM ET ) That fight isn't happening anyway, so whatever.
Uuuuuuuuuuullllllllttttttt!!!

When your coach wwwants you to fight Miguel Cotto rather than Floyd Mayweather Jr, you already know how big their confidence is on beating Floyd. Don't worry El, Roach and Pacquiao are not as confident on a win as Pacfans. Picking Cotto because he's 'easier' and is a 'come forward fighter'(AKA no defense) shows how badly they know they can beat Floyd. Not to mention Manny's desire on retiring after this year.Comment

I believe Pacquiao at this time is just too explosive and dangerous for Floyd simply because he just keeps moving and he throws too many punches. I disagree with you on how you say that Floyd would finish Pacman if he was hurt, first of all that will never happen and even if it did, if you look at his fights when he was rocked by JMM and the loss to Morales he just kept punching to keep them away to show he wasn't hurt. Yea Mayweather is very accurate and fast but style wise it would be a very tough fight for Mayweather.
If this fight happens I see Pacquiao finishing Money May somewhere between 6th round to 10th.Comment

The Fact is, Layoffs can/do hurt and he was better at 130-140. It's about where he is Mentally and Physically.
Right now, we don't know where he is and anybody that says they do, are full **** unless they are watching him train. And even then, that's not the same as fighting under the lights in front of a huge crowd with an opponent that has bad intentions towards you. That's been discussed plenty of times by fighters and trainers.
But he should still be good because he should be able to adapt.
Same with Jordan as he aged. Physically, he was better when he was skinny Jordan, but he was so smart and had good technique and such a top athlete that he still was able to help his team continue to win Championships. Maybe you can say he was still prime but just a different player because he had to adapt to be who he was at certain points in time. Same with Floyd: Better physically at 130-140, but still smart and such great technique that he was still ahead of the game. Although the Mental side to him fell which led him into retirement.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 05-15-2009, 06:27 PM.Comment

How do you people think the fight will play out?
First I want to say that Mayweather's doesn't fall under the typical Pacquiao opponent and the same could be said to Pacquiao (Except JMM) somewhat.
Going to the body against Pacquiao is a dangrous, gotta be careful not to get hit upstairs. The best way to hit Pac to the body is the "Jab to the body" and Mayweather has a GREAT jab to the body. The "Jab to the body" is an underated punch, we all saw Corrales, Sosa and Zab gass because of it, I laughed when Roger Mayweather said Ali never wen't to the body, he was WRONG because Ali jabbed to the body. Floyd would have to do this in order to slow down Pacquaio/ stop him in his tracks
It is still dangrous but Mayweather has the reach and speed to get out of there. Alot of people here are saying Mayweather will go toe to toe, NOT IN THE 1ST 5 ROUNDS, I don't think so, coming foward against Pacquiao is a bad idea and Mayweather isn't the type to jump on a guy early, atleast not against someone as elite as Pacquiao.
I was going threw videos on youtube and someone mentioned how Hatton and DLH were able to keep Floyd on the defensive, doing that will stop Floyd from going on the offensive. Pacquiao is capable of that and has more then enough stamina to do so, I've already said Pacquiao WORRIES ME. The difference between having Hatton or DLH pin you against the ropes as oppose to Pacquiao is that Hatton and DLH will be there for you to return fire, Pacquiao isn't, he'll continue to move
So, El Dominicano isn't as confident as he makes himself out to be, I see Floyd moving alot, landing the counter right, jab to the body and doing his thing during the clinches and maybe he'll frustrate Pacquiao with an elbow or forearm to his face, I hope. One thing I want to say is, if Mayweather has him hurt, I'm about 100% sure Mayweather won't allow him to recover and finish him
I do give Pacquiao a very good chance though, now keep it cool
Discuss
floyd is gonna potshot for the first 4 or so rounds with jabs to the body and the lead right cross and the leaping or counter left hook. pac is gonna move side to side and in and out and try to outspeed floyd with right hooks and left crosses. all these rounds can go either way. its possible floyd will be surprised or unprepared fore pac's power and speed and get dropped.
floyd's gonna take a breather in round 5 on the ropes and pac will go to town winning that round easy.
floyd will try and come back in rounds 6 through 8 by being more aggressive and putting together combinations. pac will try to set traps. these rounds could go either way.
In round 9 floyd might take another breather and sit on the ropes... pac will go to town and win this rounds easy.
rounds 10-12 will be the best rounds of the fight. pac will be aggressive and floyd will open up with great counterpunches. these rounds probably go to floyd based on clean punching.
if there isn't a knockdown floyd will win or it will be a draw.
if pac scores a knockdown he will win by a point.Comment
