How silly.
We're all boxing fans and boxing rarely has more than one choice on a Saturday night. And even those of us without a lot of money can usually handle the PPV price. If not, there's always ways to split the cost with friends or to get a copy of fights in the mails, download on the computer.
We're boxing fans. Why wouldn't we watch boxing? It's not like any fight ever takes longer than an hour to complete. It's not like we can't get access to the big ones.
This week it's people outraged with John Ruiz. There's people saying they won't pay for Vitali vs. Williams. Wait til Dec. 11 when everyone on this board is talking about it - you'll find a way to watch it if you're really interested.
Tyson is the most blatant example. People say they're done with this guy. Got burned on the McNeeley fight or another one that lasted just a few minutes. Hate the guy for the Holyfield II fight. Hate the guy for the **** conviction. Hate the guy for his interviews.
140,000 PPV buys for a past-prime Tyson vs. an unknown with a pathetic undercard!
People keep talking, but true fight fans will watch whatever fight comes on that Saturday if they don't have other plans. It's not like "Hey - this guy should have lost his last fight so I'm not watching him again out of protest." or "the last fight only went a round and I dropped 40 bucks on it so I'm not buying it again."
How many people leading up to the Nov. 13 card said there was no chance they would buy it? "It's garbage" "No big time fights" "too expensive" etc. etc. etc.
And how many people have made reference to this weekend's fights on the first few pages of the boards?
How silly.
