  • people keep saying "I won't pay to see that" or "I won't watch so and so..."

    How silly.

We're all boxing fans and boxing rarely has more than one choice on a Saturday night. And even those of us without a lot of money can usually handle the PPV price. If not, there's always ways to split the cost with friends or to get a copy of fights in the mails, download on the computer.

We're boxing fans. Why wouldn't we watch boxing? It's not like any fight ever takes longer than an hour to complete. It's not like we can't get access to the big ones.

This week it's people outraged with John Ruiz. There's people saying they won't pay for Vitali vs. Williams. Wait til Dec. 11 when everyone on this board is talking about it - you'll find a way to watch it if you're really interested.

Tyson is the most blatant example. People say they're done with this guy. Got burned on the McNeeley fight or another one that lasted just a few minutes. Hate the guy for the Holyfield II fight. Hate the guy for the **** conviction. Hate the guy for his interviews.

140,000 PPV buys for a past-prime Tyson vs. an unknown with a pathetic undercard!

People keep talking, but true fight fans will watch whatever fight comes on that Saturday if they don't have other plans. It's not like "Hey - this guy should have lost his last fight so I'm not watching him again out of protest." or "the last fight only went a round and I dropped 40 bucks on it so I'm not buying it again."

How many people leading up to the Nov. 13 card said there was no chance they would buy it? "It's garbage" "No big time fights" "too expensive" etc. etc. etc.

And how many people have made reference to this weekend's fights on the first few pages of the boards?

    How silly.

Boxing fans are definitely loyal. Wish the promoters and organizations gave us the fights we deserved.

i didnt see this weekends card and i'm a huge boxing fan..... the quality of the fights were worth pay cable at best(HBO, showtime), not PPV... VK vs williams is the same thing, not worth PPV,.... although i do believe it will be an entertaining fight and end in a KO

I solved that problem with illegal cable. Now I watch all the fights, and tape them for my library which is the envy of my gym. I'll sit through another boring ass Hopkins fight, I just won't pay for that it.

I didnt order it either. I cant swear that I wouldnt have if I didnt plan on Barrera-Morrales later this mo though. I had to sit and watch "Gothika" AGAIN just to keep my mind off the fact that there was indeed boxing on and I had to pick between ppv's.

Even a Ruiz fight is better than Gothika.

Even though watching Ruiz hug for 12 rd's is pretty scary, I happen to like Gothika and think it's a damn good movie
Like I said, if I didnt plan on Barrera-Morrales this mo. there is a very good chance I would have broken down and ordered it.

when you said "I had to watch Gothika" I assumed that wording meant you thought it ****** as much as I did. My bad.

I went and saw it with my brother on a thursday night at like 1030 pm and there were only 5 or so of us in the theater. We all thought it was so bad, the last half hour of the movie was all of us doing a Mystery Science Theater 3000 on the film.

"There, that's it. You just escaped a mental institution. Go back to your home address. No one will find you there...."

                  that kind of stuff.

If you enjoyed the film, maybe it wasn't worth it to you. BTW, I think I'm gonna start taping an extra copy of the PPVs and starting them around the mail. A copy of this weekend's fights are on their way to texas right now. If you want on the mailing list, send me a pm. I'll make sure the recipients know where to forward it.

Oh there were several "cheap shots" in the movie, but all in all it was scary enough for a bored night, if you know what I mean. Like, I understand that her husband was a low-life who deserved to be chopped up with an axe, but far as I know it's still murder, and it wasnt self defense like it was with his friend, the sheriff. And I dont think that they bought her being possessed by that ghost stuff either. So, in other words, she murdered her husband and got away with it cause he was a bad person. AND, if this ghost wanted her help so much, why beat the hell out of her? We would have had to have a talk, me and her, and get a few thing's straight! (You want me help, fine, dont be whippin my ass ok ) And she just about got her caught while in the swimming pool too! Just didnt make sense. So, there's alot for me to nit-pick, but when youre trying desperately hard to NOT order something, it's best to occupy the mind
I'd love a copy of the fights! Absolutely....I've been doing that for mo's myself, taping for a few posters that dont get those channels, etc. I wondered if it would ever come back to me in some way, but it didnt really matter. As a fan I know how much it sucks to miss the fight's.
So, is there a charge? Not to sound ****** it's just that I never charged anything but shipping (and still not been paid for that!!! )
