    A Question About Weight.

In the Packy/Hatton fight Packy came in at 138. Couldnt JMM just come in at 140 instead of packing on extra poundage to go up to 143?
I mean I know you cant go over weight, but if Packy came in at 138 its seems to be legal since they let him fight.

So is there anything to keep Marquez from putting on as little weight as possible and coming in at 138-140?

He'll probably weight between 145-150 on fight night.

    What say you dudes?

      Weight is a LIMIT.

A heavyweight can come in at 125 pounds if he wants.

marquez doesn't need to put on a single pound if he doesn't want.

Side note: this is a hot button issue for me.

It annoys me when I hear someone say that fighter A is being forced to gain weight and he will be slow and sluggish yadda yadda.

NO. As long as you don't EXCEEED the limit, you are fine. So, in marquez' case, he can come in at 135. Or 138. Or 139.99999. Or 141.8637. Or 144. Wherever he feels BEST.

LOL, then why is everyone bitching so much? If I was JMM, I'd just come in at the best weight for me. People act like he has to gain all this extra weight, lol. Just come in a 135, and weigh 140 on fight night.
          Bam. Problem solved.

I hope he does. He'd be a fool to try and put on too much weight.

                  Exactly.

That was my same argument about the "Floyd/Hatton at 147" thing. Ricky could have come in at whatever weight he wanted. 140. 143, 147. The higher weight class gives you MORE flexibility. Not less.

plus, you don't have to dry out on fight week, so you are stronger in the fight.
