    Just watched the Tyson Documentary

I just watched the Tyson Doc and it wasn't what i expected. It was good and all, but i thought it was gonna be about boxing. I think that documentary was geared toward people who don't know what Tyson's about. Yeah, he was hella young when he was in his prime; that was pretty crazy.

If you didn't grow up on Tyson's fights or ever watch him fight, or know anything about Tyson then you'll really like the documentary.

I've seen all those clips, interviews, fights etc. etc. etc. so it really wasn't anything new. Although the part when he was talkin about Cus, yeah i felt where he was coming from.

I liked the doc cus it gave a perspective strictly from Tyson. Young Tyson and present Tyson are so different they're like two different types of people.
I liked the part when he was talkin about being scared of this opponents, but would unload on them because he was scared. And how he grew more confident as he got closer to the ring.

I think when the average shmuck on the street who knows nothing about boxing or Tyson watches the doc, they'll see him in a new light and see that he's really not a monster.

Overall, i liked it. But i thought it was gonna focus more on boxing.

While it was most of the same old clips and you stated sir I enjoyed seeing Mike talk and nararate them for us. Hearing things from his point of view and listening to what was going on inside his mind during it all. I think he showed us a very vurnerable side of himself. The way he talked about Cus and his mother. The fact he didn't even know if the man he was living with was his father or not. All the stories about his chilhood and things that he felt changed him inside. I watched Tyson when I was a kid (I am 31 years old) But I wasnt as into boxing then as I am now so alot of the stuff that you may have seen or heard before I was still a kid when it happened and wasn't aware of it to this degree. i truly enjoyed the film and I am glad Mike is in a better place with himself now....Lefty

They covered as much Boxing as what was already on display for his career. There really wasn't nothing the majority of Boxing fans and people in general didn't know about him being he was all over the place in the 80s. I think they meant to make the documentary coming from Mike's perspective of all the things we saw from outside the box looking in. This was pretty much his explanation and thoughts of his life, much more interesting than it simply being about Boxing.

I enjoyed it although I saw plenty of those clips before. Mainly because it was all in Mike's words.

I heard Mike Tyson's Greatest Hits from 1988 focuses entirely on boxing. Neva seen that though.

yeah, the Cus part was the most moving.

When i was a kid, i thought that Tyson was indestructible. For real like IRON. Then he went to prison and i thought he was a thug. Then he started losing it in the ring and started with his antics and i thought he was crazy.

When all the documentaries came out about his background it started to all come together. But now, after this recent one, he's human after all. Just to see him as vulnerable as he was was pretty moving. The part when he was talkin about jail was crazy too. I've always wanted to know what Mike was like in prison; from what he explained i think he was scared.

It didn't sound like a sad song. It did at first, but then i started to listen to what he was trying to convey. He was literally thrown into the boxing world for the benefit of others (even Cus's own interests) and had to deal with all that nonsense at an early age. I don't think he was making any excuses or explanations. He was just being Mike.

But i think i know why he got so emotional about Cus. Like he said, if Cus wasn't in his life he'd either be dead or in jail. So in essence, Cus saved his life.

Tyson is definitely one of my top 3 favorite fighters of all time.

Yeah when he atalked about how Cus broke him down and taught him the true meaning of being a warrior. The fact he needed descipline and control and as long as he had that he could beat anybody. That he new after that no one would ever fcuk with him again. he would fcuking kill somebody if they fcuked with him. How he truly is or was a lost soul a young kid who was taken advantage of buy Jim Jacobs and Bill Catan and how Don King was a wretched piece of crap who would kick his mother in the face for a dollar. How he stomped out Don king in front of the bevery Hills hotel in front of some older white women and they must have thought he was some black hethen....Real thought from his head and true facts...He is a little fuzzy about exact details of something but he is not lying about anything...Lefty

I liked it because it came from Tyson's side plus i have his career set so i didn’t mind that it didn’t show to much boxing, i thought it was well edited to, a lot of documentary’s can come across real cheap, i was more disappointed with the HBO one on Joe Louis.

I was actually dissappointed with the doc. Some parts were very moving, like Mike talking abou Cus, or his talking about his childhood, but on the whole I found it pretty boring. Also it was a very one sided doco - and they never really went into anything in depth.

Why didn't you like the Joe Louis doc? That's the only doc I've seen on him myself...
