  • Edison Miranda as The Gatekeeper? Tough Gate

By Cliff Rold - One could make a case that Saturday’s looming Super Middleweight contest between 2004 U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward (18-0, 12 KO) and Colombian power puncher Edison Miranda (32-3, 28 KO) is intended to be an entirely evenly matched contest [details]

Miranda is far from 'past his best'. Ward doesnt have what Pavlik and Abraham do.

      Pantera KTFO Ward!

Is this what Miranda has been reduced to? A gatekeeper? Man, what has this world come to? One minute you are posed to be the next big thing in the middle weight division, and suddenly you are cut down to being the gatekeeper I have to hand it to Pantera he will fight any one. If he get's knocked out by Ward, which should not happen but if he does, I think he should hang them up. You can't go around getting knocked the phuk out and expect anything good to follow. I wish Miranda the best. Actually I wish both well.

Quote me on this one, Ward will NOT knock Miranda out. UD is the most likely outcome in Ward's favour, but the only man who has chance of knocking their opponent out is Miranda.

I think he could do it, if he applies the right pressure, and keeps his defense tidy. Mirand TKO 10th round.

An in-shape, motivated Miranda is a tough fight for anybody between 160 and 168. I always liked Miranda as he makes for exciting viewing, nothing I like more than seeing a guy going in there every time looking for nothing but knockouts. Ward is a decent prospect though and he's getting to that age now where it's all or bust. A win here and he'll be propelled into the spotlight. I like the Olympic gold medal story. As far as predictions go... I can see Ward winning a decision in a bruising encounter, think he's got the ability to keep out of the way of Miranda's bigger punches but doesn't have the power to force a stoppage.
