I mean, I say this based only on the Hatton fight(not elbows but clinches), but if worked so well then I could see him using that strategy again. I honestly didn't blame him for the clinching, I thought it was genius to beat ricky at his own game. The elbows were out of control though.
How does Floyd deal with Pacman's speed & workrate?

Speed and workrate are not everything,Floyd has the best defense of the modern boxing, just watch Zab Judah who was almost as fast as Pacquiao, Mayweather counter-punched him and Floyd dominated him and forced Judah to use illegal tactics, like a low-blow and a rabbit punch behind the head.
Also,Pacquiao has difficulty against counter-puncher,just like Marquez, and Mayweather is faster, bigger, stronger and a lot better than him.Comment

Footwork (proper control of range) and timing. Although how he avoids Pacman's shots while in range will also play a factor in how the fight goes (one way or the other)Comment

Floyd DID initiate most of the clinches, before Hatton got the chance to. Thats what was so genius about it. Of course, to Hatton clinching is "good" inside fighting. Against another fighter I dont like it but against Hatton I think Floyd was more that justified. Hatton is a dirty fighter.Comment
