This is one thing I'd forgot to include when I did my pick for Froch vs. Taylor the other week. (You remember? I correctly calculated that Froch would stop a gassing Taylor late... I dunno whether I mentioned it or not.)
Whatever anyone says about Jermain Taylor, he's a handsome fella. He's currently in my top ten P4P dish list. Whereas Carl Froch looks like a batty Marty Feldman.
When Froch was KD'd, he wasn't particularly hurt, but he had no qualms about getting up because in the back of his mind he must be thinking "if I get hit in the face another hundred times it might make me better looking."
Take the converse with Jermain. Bad Intentions - more like Dish Intentions. When the fight's not going his way he's thinking "**** this, I want to stay handsome."
Agree - yes/no? It's the reason why Ricky Hatton never bothers with a defence but Floyd's the defence master.
There are notable exceptions to this - Calzaghe vs Hopkins being one - but generally speaking if I had to have a street fight I'd rather fight a dish with something to lose than some ugly **** with everything to gain.
