    Dunne v Munroe

BBC, Sport, BBC Sport, bbc.co.uk, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

Leicester boxer Rendall Munroe could be fighting for a world title within the next year, according to his promoter Frank Maloney.

Munroe added the Commonwealth title to his European super-bantamweight belt last Saturday and has been tipped to fight Irish WBA champion Bernard Dunne.

Maloney told BBC Radio Leicester: "We have been given an eliminator for the IBF and we are number three in the WBC.

"We are interested in the Dunne fight but our offers have been neglected."

Munroe, who is a binman by day, has a record of 19 wins in 20 fights, with eight knockouts.

Maloney said he has offered Dunne £200,000 to fight Munroe in either Ireland or England.

Maloney added: "If I was Dunne's manager I would take the fight. If you look at Rendall's performance against Netty it was workmanlike but not outstanding.

"It should make the Dunne camp think Rendall is there for the taking.

"But I think Dunne can be beaten at any time, so if I was him I would take the Rendall fight because he has the least experience on the world stage."

I think its a great fight for both parties. I hope Dunnes people make this happen. It could go either way but I got Dunne winning by TKO after coming of the canvas early on. If it happens should be a good fight.

    Any thoughts?

The 'Binman' deserves his shot IMO. Team Dunne can't ignore him forever.

This fight would be huge round these parts.

    I got Munroe.

I thought they would fight after Munroe beat Kiko. I think Dunne was looking for it anyway, not too sure but it was in the press in ireland as a possability at the time.

I agree Munroe deserves a shot, but it looks like he has other options with the IBF and WBC so he shouldnt have to wait too long whatever happens. Hope he gets it on with Dunne. Munroe's fought in Dublin before too, and if it happens i think thats were it would be. Dunne can gather a big crowd, especially after his last fight, which was FOTY so far imo.
