    JMM is no tune-up!!!

Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have picked Juan Manuel Marquez as an opponent for his comeback fight... but to say that JMM is a tune-up is utter ignorance.

It's true that by moving-up JMM gives Floyd Jr. all the advantages because JMM has not fought above 135lbs before. And now JMM is moving up in weight against a very skilled boxer in Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Juan Manuel Marquez is the world's number 2 pound for pound fighter, he did not get in that position for no reason. JMM will face the former number 1 pound for pound fighter, and by doing so he will risk his legacy for a big paycheck.

PBF will also risk his legacy... having to pick JMM. It is true that JMM called out Floyd Jr. after he defeated Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz.
But it's not as if Floyd Jr. does not have enough options.

    It's former #1 P4P against current #2 P4P.

    Tune-up fight? think again.

Some Mayweather fans wanna have it both ways. They say that Floyds not picking on the smaller guy and that its a legit fight and will be an important victory while at the same time they try to diminish JMM as tuneup to make themselves feel better.
Much the same way Floyd acts like a fool to make himself forget his daddy issues.

and yet most posters here often called the PBF-JMM as a tune-up fight for Floyd. It's kind of irritating.

So there's nothing to gain for Floyd in that fight if he should win?

        To many casual fans here.

definatly not a tuneup for floyd.
he's going to have to work his rusty
ass to keep jmm off him.

but on paper it don't look good for juan.
and he's been in constant wars!
going to be rooting for him but not
going to bet with my heart.

If Marquez beats Floyd it has to be one of the all time great upsets.

If youv'e seen Marquez's last few fights, he's not the fighter he once was, his ability to see punches from mid-short distance is not good at all, Diaz was hitting him with all kinds of stuff, Casamayor would have beaten Marquez had he not decided to walk him down and walk into those shots. Another thing is, he is going to try and outbox floyd, and I would be shocked if he could win a chess match with mayweather.

Forget what Marquez did against Pacquaio, his last two fights at 135 could have gone the other way and if the guys at 135 can hurt him, a 147 pounder like Mayweather can really hurt him.

How does that diminish JMM's accomplishment. I had Casa up by 2 before he got K.O'd. JMM won fair and square though

I totally disagree when people keep saying this. I think theyre just trying to take credit away from Floyd. Name 1 guy who JMM beat that was better than Diaz & Casamayor? Those are 2 great fighters and likely will not ever be stopped by anyone else. To me its like Hatton vs Collazo or whateva. Everyone wants to act like you cant struggle anymore. These guys are good. You think JMM is going to blow those guys out like theyre some bums? Besides, people act like JMM was some legendary defensive guy. His face has been busted up in all his fights for years now. Add that to the fact that Casamayor is a Southpaw who JMM always gets hit clean by and Diaz is an in your face combo puncher, he was going to take some shots. He was never going to blow those guys out

Shut up you tart, he cant even see punches from Juan Diaz, you think he's gonna see a mayweather right hand?

                    Come on now.
