People think that Paul Williams can easily contend in the higher weight classes, but I'm not so sure. It's easy to tell he is a naturally slight person. Going up to SMW would take away his height and reach advantages straight away. On top of that, I doubt his power would carry that high. I think a fighter like Froch who walked through most of what Pascal, and Taylor had to give wouldn't have a problem with Williams. And let's not forget, Paul Williams isn't very elusive. I doubt Froch would have too many problems finding his chin throughout the fight. As we know, he only has to find it once.

I think Froch would stop Williams in the mid rounds. What is apparent is that Carl is very underrated around here. A guy who made his first defence in America, against a world class opponent, should be given more respect.

I'd give him more respect if he did not get dropped in the 3rd . Not like getting dropped by a top contender is a reason to lose in itself however Taylor had every opportunity to seal the deal yet failed to do so like the first Pavlik fight. Had it been an opponent with a "killer instinct" Froch would/should have been done that rd.

If I were Willy, Id want this fight.
I think Williams would likely defeat Froch by decision.

Unlike Taylor, Paul has strong punch resistance and he doesn't fade in the late rounds.

If's and buts. Carl won the fight. And being dropped is not a reason to not respect a fighters achivements.

Yeah, but does he have strong punch resistance against a big puncher at SMW? No one knows. But I doubt he can campaign any higher than Middleweight. The guys at SMW are too big and too strong.

Williams would beat Taylor too. He would beat Froch as well but the only difference would be that he wouldn't be behind on the scorecards. Taylor has possibly the worst stamina in boxing, Williams is a machine who despite throwing 1200 punches per fight doesn't get tired.

99.9% of the disrespect comes from die hard Joe fans. They get offended by the tone Froch takes with Calzaghe.

Bro, there would be no contest. Calzaghe is too quick, adapts too well, has a much higher workrate. In the very, very, least, he would embarrass Froch in route to a 10-2 UD and coast easily because he has the technical ability to do that stuff; Froch is not on the same skill level.
