Bottomline its easy picking coming back from a lay off.

Oh and plain and simple envy of Pacquiao being considered P4P by the world not a self proclamaitioned status but earned.
Saying Floyd didn't earn his p4p spot and Manny did is a complete and utter joke considering Manny was given the spot AFTER FLOYD RETIRED. They both earned where they are at now, any argument other than that is complete bull****. They both NEED EACH OTHER to make this beyond a mega fight, PERIOD.

The same's been said about Mayweather, and not just by fanboys passing through.

The critique of Floyd's credentials from those who oppose his passage to ATG status is such that I'm not sure a win over Pac would grant Floyd much more leverage with those critics.

Manny could stand to gain more credit in that sense.

But in terms of an all-time event, both guys need this. It would be immense, and there probably won't be another chance of a fight with this kind of significance for a while yet.

      mellow_mood,

you weren't talking about the purse-split. You were talking about the magnitude, the size of the fight. And Floyd and Pac are equal partners in that.

I have no idea what the split will be. In a perfect world, both sides could agree on 50/50, but it isn't anywhere near a done deal yet (Floyd has to beat marquez), so we shouldn't be talking about purses.

The hate in this thread is incredible. YES Manny is an ATG YES Floyd is an all time great. YES they both need each other to make this the fight of the century PERIOD. It's like when someone said "If Manny beats Floyd Manny shoots himself to top 10 ATG." Then I asked "What if Floyd beats Manny?" he said "Uhhh than Manny was too small." COMMON let's be rational about this **** and stop the hate let's address these bouts with FACTS for once.

That's probably because PEOPLE HATE FLOYD PERSONALLY. If you dislike a person of course you are going to discredit him. They are ALREADY setting up the excuses for when Floyd beats Pac.

When I say "need", I don't necessarily mean that either one will be hurting for acclaim when they call it a day if they don't meet.

I just mean, in the sense of a unique, historical thing on both their ledgers.

u r right we are not talking about purse split.... but just bringing that to the equation.. cos the fight is not still done... and manny pac is the one who carries the buzz right now.. and he will demand more he or arum.. u pick...

and the thing is that is floyd is going to be willing to accept that?.

but yeah... i can agree with you on the equal partners on the magnitude of the fight. its because of both .. not only for manny pac.

if floyds is fighting back.. is because he want manny pac buzz... the fight is gonna get done...

unless pac fights cotto first and for any reason losses.. then.. we shall see if floyd fights cotto....

pac buzz > floyd buzz right now.

I keep hearing that the fight between Manny andd Floyd would be at the end of the year, but I would think that if the Cotto fight is made, wouldn't Manny and Floyd logically be fighting in March at the earliest? That's why I hope that Manny just sits on any future fights until Floyd and Marquez fights.
