I like Clottey by decision. I think Miguel will win most of the early rounds, but i think eventually Clottey will start wearing him down and coming on late winning a close decision. When Clottey is at 100%, hes arguably one of the best fighters in boxing and i think he has a bad style for Cotto.

How Clotteys style is bad For Cotto.?

I mean, Clottey will let cotto dictate the pace, and Clottey gasses out by the 6th or 7th round, everytime.

Not a volume puncher, let alone power puncher.

And Cotto have fought 2 guys with similar style as Clottey and both bigger than Cottom while this is the first time of Clottey fighter a boxer/Puncher like Cotto!!!!!!!!!!

Man, you know your cool with me, but give it up.

I understand you think it's an advantage, and I kind of agree with you to an extent. But you're acting like it's the only reason he'll win.

And you just repeat it over and over again and I don't know why, I mean we get it.

So vote who u think wins and id appreciate it if u could break it down why u think that lads, cheers

Heres my take it go's the full distance with Cotto taking a close but clear decision, it will be hard fough and gruelling at times, a better tougher version of the Cotto vs Ndou fight mabey.
Clottey is Rock solid and will not be getting stopped his defence is first rate on top of his naturall toughness even if his gaurd is a touch high at times, he can weigh up to 170lb come fight night and will match Miguel for strength. He is a good 12 round fighter as is Cotto and i think he may be the stronger man down the strech even if some feel he fades on here.
His uppercut is a worry as its a punch Miguel is open for (or if u beleive the ****e on here the right hand, straight left and right hook! pfft) Up in close where this fight will be fought at times he has the strength and body work to trade with Cotto but Ultimatley i think Miguel Cotto will know when to box him from range, countering and stuff and when to mix it up inside with him, Clottey takes breaks and go's to sleep in fights and Miguel will capitalize on that, Cotto's variety, flair and greater imagination will see him through on points for a Quality if not spectacular win in a very good fight

              Please share ur take
you broke it down rather nicely. I picked Cotto by stoppage just to make it exciting but I do think it is a good possibility that Cotto's more well rounded offense and his under rated movement will allow him to break Clottey down and stop him late. If Cotto can utilize the jab to get thru the guard of Clottey he will put a hurtin the Hitter. I think most people base Clottey's abilities off of his fight with Margarito in which early he exhibited the ability to counter Margarito very effectively while evading or blocking most everything Margarito. The he hurt his hand(not broke it, hurt it) and he shutdown and let Margarito takeover. Margarito won this fight coming off a very long layoff, with a healing sprained ankle and also with a broken hand in the fight. If you watch Clottey vs richard gutierrez I think this gives a truer picture of what Clottey is capable of. Add to the fact that Clottey is coming off a rather long period of inactivity and I think this fight will not go well for him.

I havent seen the Clottey vs Gutierrez fight, will have a look out for it. Ive been watching the Margarito fight as u say and the Judah and Corrales fights recently.
Yeah the lay off wont help him at all, if Cotto CAN stop him then for me he is back on top of the WW pile it would be a HUGE statement, Clottey has only been down once and that was on his debut!

                  Heres the facts

Cotto a former LWW champion but now a full fledged stump of a WW stands
5'7" has a 67-inch reach and is 28 years old

Clottey a career WW who bulks up to 170lb by fight time is 32 years old stands 5'8" tall and has a 70 inch reach

Cotto has had a couple less fights than Clottey but has mixed in better company generally and has the bettr AM experiance

His record sits at 33 wins 27 of those by KO against the sole loss to Margarito which is seriously clouded now with the wraps scandal

Clottey has a 35 -2 slate with 20 KO's, less KO power on paper but a good puncher non the less who may come off better punch for punch with Miguel, his 2 loses can be forgiven, a DQ when he was well ahead against Baldomir and a points loss to Margarito after hurting his hand after a promising start

Cotto is versatile in that he can fight off the back foot countering and has a great jab, can switch to southpaw effectivly or he can fight as a pressure fighter with the brutal left hook to the body (this is what he looks most comfertable doing)

Clottey fights somewhat like countryman Ike Quartey, pressing the fight from behind his high gaurd, fights in spurts but has fast hands and a good body attack also. Can counter well too

Cotto has had a problematic camp (fight with his uncle / trainner) but will hold home advantage, the fight takes place in Madinson square Garden on the eve of the PR day parade where Cotto has sold out many times

I think it will be a pretty competitive fight, but in the end cotto wins a comfortable ud.

Cotto on points. IF he has recovered from his plaster beating. I hate to say it but he might be physically ruined by that.
Cotto is mentally tougher and physically more talented. He wins a tough scrap.
