    What did Beibut Shumenov do as an amateur?

    I don't remember him from the amateurs, but I'll admit that I mostly just follow US amateurs and amateurs from Latin American countries. Does anyone know what Beibut Shumenov did as an amateur?

      Represented Kazak in the 2004 Olympics and was beaten in the second round by Ihsan Yildrim. Silver medalist in the 1-st Afro-Asian games in 2003, in India

        Thanks for the info. Do you know why he didn't turn pro until late 2007? Did he try to qualify in 2008 and not make it?

          No m8, he was putting everything into place for his professional career because, hes self promoted and self managed and owns KZ Event Productions, Inc. which he founded with his brother Chingis Shumenov in 2007 so i suppose this took a year or so to really put together.
