i know what ppl are trying to get across, but here is the thing.... visually, the fight was close. close as hell. about even if you ask me. but technically, there is no way that fight was a draw. I call it a robbery because manny fought just as hard, and gave just as much effort as marquez. the fight was virtually even give or take a round or two. but marquez went down 3 times.

I feel like ppl say marquez won because he fought hard, and showed heart, so they think he deserved it. however, that isnt how fights are scored. i have no doubt that without the kds, it would have been a draw or went either way. but when a fighter goes down 3 times, he has to win 8 rounds to even det a draw. there is no way that that fight was as one sided as bernard hopkins vs. winky wright (2 judges had hopkins up 8 rounds to 4)

I can understand your point, but I disagree. I've watched the fight maybe a dozen times, and Marquez is controlling the action in nearly every round (ring generalship), lands the cleaner, harder shots in almost every round after the first, and landed more than Manny did overall. The only thing he didn't do was pressure Manny, but instead did most of his worth with counterpunching. Manny did pressure Marquez throughout, but was it effective aggression, when he was being outlanded and outboxed? That's why I scored most rounds for Marquez...he landed more, and forced Pacman to fight his way, rather than allowing the fight to be dictated by the pressure fighter.

Martinez was robbed of a KO, then robbed of a decision! The referee was an incompetent idiot - he counted a cut caused by a punch as being from a headbutt, then believed Cintron's lie that he was KOed by a headbutt, then deducted a point from Martinez without justification. Then the judges gave rounds to Cintron that he obviously didn't win.

i see what you are saying. but let me add to that. i feel as though marquez did these thing in the rounds that he won. even if manny barley wins a round, he still wins it. marquez winning 6 rounds decisively, doenst mean he won the fight. he still has to win at least 7 total rounds, you get me

That is my point. I had Marquez winning 8 rounds. That was on my card the night of the fight, live. The guy I watched the fight with is a HUGE Pacman fan, and he gave Marquez 7 rounds. But even being pretty bias, and picking the fight apart multiple times, there's no way I could give Manny more than 6 rounds, and that's stretching a ways, which would be a decision in his favor by 3 points, or 111 to 114. And that's giving a 10-6 round to Manny in the 1st. If you gave him a 10-7 in the first, and still gave him 5 rounds, that's a draw.

Judging a fight is very subjective, and much more difficult than most people think. I keep a scorecard for most of the fights I watch, and I'm about as fair a person as you'll ever meet, and would put my scorecard up against any judge in the business.

Yeah, I agree with this one. That was horrible judging and even worse refereeing.
