Everyone from the media, haterz, and even Floyd fans are resigned to the fact that Floyd is just a laid back counter puncher/pot shotter who runs or moves alot. Most think that the fight with JMM and maybe even Pac also will be extremely boring. They think Pac can beat Floyd with his workrate and so on.
I hear this and I always totally disagree with that concept of Floyd. Its like people watch Floyd fight 2 huge guys in Oscar & Baldy and thats how they think he fights now or all the time. The other fights they think about is the Castillo fight which to me are similar to the Oscar & Baldy fight because Floyd was just moving up and Casitllo was much bigger & stronger compared to Floyd at that time. You take those fights away and he hardly ever fights like that in any other fight. If he fights guys his own size or smaller then he's very Offensive but its like people dont beleive that. He was highly offensive at 130 and had a nice stretch going at LW on up where he stopped N'Dou, Bruseles, Gatti, Mitchell, Hatton, dropped Chop twice in a good battle, and nearly made Zab stop.
I think if your near his size then he's going to attack you and if your a righty then he's really going to attack you because he doesnt think a righty can hit him clean. There is no way that the JMM fight will be boring and there is no way that he will be a Counter puncher agaisnt JMM or Pac. He's going to walk both guys down. He'll walk JMM down because he thinks he's bigger, faster, and no righty can hit him clean. The only thing that could change any of this is the long layoff. Other then that he will attack these guys. Im still torn on wether he will attack JMM like he did Gatti or in that same way but a slower version. It could see him fighting JMM super fast like he did Gatti or still walking him down but doing it in a slower way like he did Zab since he's had a long layoff. Either way this site will be one sided, Floyd will be very offensive, and he will get a KO that will not come all that late. I hear some people say that if Floyd goes after JMM then he is a fool and will lose because JMM is a beast counter puncher. NO way. Floyd will go right at him and JMM wont be able to counter because Floyd is faster and his D is too good while at the same time JMM is easy to hit.
I think the Pac fight will be basically the same way but kind of different since Pac is a Southpaw. I again think Floyd will walk Pac down. Everyone thinks that Floyd will run from Pac. Even Roach thinks so and this will back fire. You already hear Roger & Floyd talking about how Pac is too small which I disagree with but it shows you what there mindset is. You also hear Senior saying the same thing as me in that Pac is a completey different fighter if you make him go backwards. Floyd will do that to him. I think there's a 25% chance that he will fight him the same way he did Corley. He was very fast and aggressive against Corley but I think he respects Pac's power more and knows that he could dominate the fight but lose because he just got caught one time. Thats why I think most likely he will fight Pac the way he did Zab & Mitchell. He will slowly walk Pac down. I hear people saying that Pac wont go backwards but thats garbage. Floyd can force him back because his D is that good and his countering skills are that good. It will be easier to do then people think. Pac has never felt much pressure before in a fight except EM 1 who forced him backwards.
Floyd will come at him with that Winky guard up high and walk him. I guarantee it. Pac will be swinging alot early but after 3 or 4 rounds you will see a switch in the fight just like in the Zab fight as Floyd puts him on his heals. Pac will still be countering but Floyd will be blocking nearly everything with the high guard and countering back with 1 shot and then 1-2's. Again, he wont throw as much because its hard to throw alot against Southpaws e****ally the guys you really have to show respect to. I bet anything that if Zab was a righty then Floyd wouldve been even more aggressive because he doesnt think they can hit him clean. The same for Pac. If Pac was a righty then he would fight him like he did Gatti but he has to show respect because he knows that with a lefty, one slip and you could get caught. Against JMM Floyd will throw more combos and against Pac he would throw a ton of combos if Pac was a righty but he's not. Thats why he will slowly walk him down with the 1-2's like he did Zab but it will add up and I think it will be easier because Zab is still somewhat slick and Zab goes defensive. Pac doesnt. It will be easier for Floyd because Pac will still try to swing while going backwards and it will just open him up for more straight rights from Floyd out of the high guard. Infact, that may actually allow Floyd to land more combo's instead of just the 1-2's since Pac will still try to be aggressive.
When your in the high guard it takes away most of your power and thats what you see with guys like Winky & Clottey but it allows you to let your hands go much quicker and its harder for the opponent to see them coming. Floyd will lose power against Pac because of this but he will land so many quick sharp punches in the process that will add up. Pac will be so frustrated by the mid rounds and look so amatureish that he will almost mentaly quit. I bet anything on it and everyone will be shocked. My basic point is that I disagree about Floyd being this pot shot, all defense counter pouncer, with low punch output, who will always be boring. NO way. He will take the fight to these guys and I bet his is the aggressor in both, atleast after the first few rounds. I could also see him stop walking them down alot when the other 2 get brave and go in the pocket with them where he will dominate them with his skill which will put them on the move again. Im going to bump this in both of those fights. Floyd comes in the ring at 148 so thats why he fights that way against Oscar & Baldy while Hatton is just a bull who not only tried to smother Floyd but he smothered his own punches so Floyd just played along and became the counter puncher because he knew it would be easy to do but anytime they got space then Floyd lit him up and there will be alot of space in both of these fights. He will be on the Offensive, bet
