I would not quite go that far, WW would be MW, MW would be LHW, LHW/cruiser would be heavies.

It is hard to compare stuff like that when there were different rules and expectations in the past.

If this was the 1930s then Peter Manfredo Jr. would be a successful heavyweight. That's a stone cold FACT.

Sure he is of Italian decent~ the mob ran boxing in that frame so they may have forced Manfredo down our throats (atleast if Manfredo was connected).

i dont think its relative to the eras but rather the quality of the individual fighters, like you cant say all fighters from 1950 were better than today and vice versa, style matchups and the like still apply when comparing two fighters from different eras

but on the other hand, fighters from the pre 20's who were pretty bad skillwise and were just plain tough would generally get murdered by fighters from any other era

Name one sport or human conquest that does not reflect that athletes are better today than ever before man in all he does goes forward nothing stays the same , science says human abilitys are nearly at their peak based on the simple concept a man can only run so fast , its not only in people where man is faster stronger better conditioned its also in animals where track records are all new era , yesterdays records wont win todays championships and its foolish and somewhat ignorant to think boxing is any different , Jack Johnson era would be slaughtered by todays , I think the modern age of boxing really started to move forward in the 70s and as sports science was learning previously unknown aspects of nutrition and training it has steadily created a more finely tuned fighter that is more powerful and explosive at a given weight with better fighting technique and they are faster a lot faster .

today these elite fighters know EXACLTY what they are doing to their bodies
they know exaclty how to train, how to recover and how to get the best out of it all
we are'nt going backwards in terms of knowledge

and to say that the fighters of today dont train as hard as the fighters of the past must be the most ignorant bull**** i have ever heard, you gotta be a clueless mother****er to say some dumb **** like that
look at the bodies of those guys in the past, look at the bodies of todays atheletes
Ummm. Did you actually SEE the bodies on display in Aeriolla's last fight? Have you seen James Toney recently? I suppose you COULD be right but only if by "modern training" you mean hitting the all-you-can-eat buffet every night.

Fo sho, bro. I was watching the Cheetah vs. Tiger Marathon on ESPN last night and those leopards from the 1930s looked slow as **** compared to today.
