From the sound of it, the numbers are still not official. The article is just a report of a speculation report. We have to wait for HBO numbers then it's official. Too early to call yet.

im not suprised pac is huge now because of his agressive style. he also is sponsored by nike which only ever sponsors the best athletes in the world.

It seems to me that CNN article that "broke the news" using USA Today as a reference made an epic **** up. Apparently when Googling references, the writer stumbled across the USA Today article for De La Hoya-Pacquiao instead of Pacquiao-Hatton.

Here's the article claiming Pac-Hatton did 1.6 - 2 Million buys....

USA Today reported Monday that early indications from cable companies were that the scheduled 12-round light-welterweight bout could get as many as two million buys.

Co-promoter Bob Arum was delighted with the figures especially as initial estimates were suggesting about one million boxing fans would shell out their cash.

"We know based on those early numbers and based on experience the event will perform extremely well. If I had to guess, anywhere between 1.6 million and two million homes, which is a home run," he said.

Now if you go to the USA Today web site they have no article mentioning PPV numbers for this fight, other than an article from a few weeks back when Arum said anything over 800K would be a success. They do however have this in their archives...
